~ the obituary ~

Bandai Namco Entertainment published Kamen Rider Battle Rush and a company called enish built it, which is the first thing worth saying about it. The Rider mobile catalog mostly stayed in-house or close to it, and this one went out to a listed Tokyo developer with no particular history in tokusatsu.

The form was a defense game. Trade press at launch called it a casual defense RPG, and the later description was a combination battle RPG: you fielded a team of seven Riders pulled from across the television series and they held a lane against whatever came down it. Pre-registration opened on 24 March 2016 and the game shipped that July.

It ran for just under three years. Service ended on 27 June 2019, and the notice carried neither an hour nor a cause.

~ a million in the first summer ~

On 11 October 2016 Bandai Namco announced a million downloads, which put it inside the first three months. The company marked it the way these are always marked, with a commemorative gacha running to 23:59 on 17 October. A licensed hero game clearing a million that fast is the franchise doing the work; the two years and eight months that followed are the part the game had to earn.

~ the thank-you gacha ~

The wind-down is on the record to the day, and it is the standard shape. The end was announced on 26 April 2019. Sales of Rush Stone, the paid currency, stopped a month later on 27 May, with already-purchased stones left usable to the finish. Then a gacha called ありがとうメモリアルガシャ, the thank-you memorial gacha, ran until 24 June.

That leaves three days at the end with nothing scheduled inside them. The giveaway had finished and the shop had been closed for a month. The servers kept answering anyway until the 27th, and no cause was ever printed for any of it.
